Manufactured from stainless steel, Babel Drums should be played with the hands, preferably by striking the tongues of the drum with the fingers. Warm tones and beautiful melodies with remarkably long sustain can be perfectly used for music therapy and relaxation.

Babel Drums can be played with the hands, preferably by gently beating the drum with the fingers, but also exterior sides of the thumbs can be used or can be played in both ways. Fast beating the surface of the drum and fast distract from it creates wonderful melodies. Just don’t leave fingers on the drum, unless you expect to hear sensual sound. It is also important to know that different places of the drum create different sounds: bigger tongues of the drum create lower sounds, smaller tongues – higher sounds.

Our “Iona” Babel Tongue Drum measures just over 10cm high and is 26cm in diameter and weighs just over 2kgs. Use of the Pygmy scale has grown hugely in popularity since the invention of the Hang by PANArt in Switzerland.
